About Wheatley Montessori

Wheatley Montessori was established in 2015 by Sharon Bennett and Sylvia Blassengale, educators who have touched the lives of many young people in the upstate of South Carolina. Through Sharon’s work as an elementary school media specialist and Sylvia’s experiences as a middle school guidance counselor and teacher of special-needs students, they share a passion for ensuring that all Upstate children possess the necessary skills that will best prepare them for academic and career success. Along with the school’s director, Colin Blassengale, they opened Wheatley Montessori School, a preschool for children ages 3 – 6.

Sharing the Vision

The team at Wheatley Montessori School shares the vision that early preparation is essential and that the Montessori method is the most effective means in educating students, preparing them to meet the rigor and demands of the academic world. The Montessori method helps children become better-prepared world citizens.
